As spring gets underway, come and join us for a guided tour of Whitworth Park and all its art
Come along to our guided tour led by the Whitworth's Landscape and Sustainability Technician, Patrick Osborn, who will take you through the beautiful gardens connected to the gallery and the park.
The Gallery in the Park
Our recent development has not only seen the gallery double in size – it has fully integrated it into the park we call home. An art garden designed by Sarah Price, sculpture terrace and orchard garden, alongside new spaces that embrace the park, such as our landscape gallery, learning studio and the café in the trees, all reflect this beautiful setting.
Join one of our daily guided walks and learn about the art in the park as well as an in-depth look at our Art Garden and the Sir Alex Bernstein Orchard Garden.
The Art Garden
An urban sanctuary has been created at the Whitworth, this Art Garden on the gallery’s grounds has been developed together with Jo Malone London. Devised by renowned landscape and garden designer Sarah Price, the layout of the garden is focused on waves of texture, colour and scent, which reveal themselves throughout the seasons.
The planting scheme includes some of Jo Malone London’s most-loved ingredients from peonies, to bluebells, sage and geraniums, to create a richly scented sanctuary.
The garden is a key space for outdoor events and horticultural activities such as the GROW project.
Meet by the Park Side reception desk.
Once the tour is finished, why not pop into the café in the trees for a refreshing drink or perhaps a bite to eat and view the park in all its glory.
